Remix Stacks and Templates Talk

The Remix Austin meetup happens monthly, and I try to attend it when I’m in town. I find that it is a great way to stay up on some of the latest trends in front-end web development. It’s also encouraged me to use Remix more in my own projects.

Last month, the second talk was about JavaScript object-relational mapping tools. Titled “The New Wave of ORMs”, it was a great talk, and there was a lively discussion afterwards about full-stack JavaScript frameworks. You can find the September meetup video on YouTube.

I brought up the Remix stacks, which are a similar approach. The only one I had used before was the Remix Indie Stack, but there are several others out there. For me, this was an interesting topic to explore, so I decided to give a talk about Remix Templates and Stacks at the October meetup.

Here are my slides for the talk, as a PDF.

The talk went great, and we had a nice discussion - I learned about two new things to me:

  • Datadog Synthetics - used for simulating user interactions on your site for testing.
  • Remix Guide - community-run resource for Remix tutorials, templates, and more.

Overall, I’d encourage people to attend the Remix Austin meetup if you are in the area. Many of the folks I talk to aren’t using Remix, but are curious about it, and the meetup is a great way to learn more about it.
