About Jeff Linwood
I’m currently building Wrangell Data - the data platform for the rest of us. Come check us out!
In the past, I’ve worked as a mobile application developer in Austin, Texas who worked on interesting projects for myself and others.
I’ve shipped mobile applications on the iOS and Android platforms, in Swift and Java.
My web development experience includes building web applications with many web application frameworks, including React and Rails. I’ve worked with Node, Python, Java, and TypeScript on the back end. I’ve also got extensive experience with AWS and several platform as a service providers.
Recently, I’ve given talks at the Remix Austin meetup in October 2024, and a workshop at the Connect.Tech conference in Atlanta in 2023.
I’ve also presented talks on Building Mobile Applications with Drupal at DrupalCon Denver 2012, DrupalCamp Florida 2012, DrupalCamp Austin 2011, 2011 Dallas Drupal Days. I spoke about mobile application strategy and planning for Drupal at Dallas Drupal Days 2012. I also presented on Building your first iOS app with Twilio at TwilioCon 2012. On the Ruby side, I gave a talk on Consuming the Twitter Streaming API with Ruby and Mongo DB at the 2011 Lone Star Ruby Conference in Austin.
My background is in Java development and architecture – I worked for a small Java development company in Austin that did a lot of innovative content management and service-oriented architecture projects for Lincoln Financial Group, a Fortune 500 financial services provider. I’ve written several books for Apress with David Minter on Java development, including Beginning Hibernate 3.
I have a masters of science degree from the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Information, and a bachelors of science degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. CMU doesn’t have much of a football team, so I became a Longhorns fan!
